Right to Equality are delighted to have been awarded Non-For-Profit Organisation of the Year for our role in the campaign to repeal the presumption of parental involvement in family courts.

Our founder and co-director, Dr Charlotte Proudman, accepted the award at the Women and Diversity Law Awards last night.

This recognition means a lot to our small team who work tirelessly to reform the family justice system. We are incredibly proud of our work and will continue to advocate for survivors of domestic abuse navigating the family courts.

Thank you to everyone who supported our campaign and the judges for recognising our fight to transform the system and centre the rights of survivor parents and children.

It is vital that the presumption of parental involvement is removed from law. It will make an untold difference to survivors of domestic abuse in the family justice system and protect children from abusive parents.

We are grateful for the ministers and MPs who worked with us, Sarah Sackman KC MP, Alex Davies-Jones MP, Jess Asato MP, Marie Tidball MP, Apsana Begum MP, Jess Phillips MP and Claire Waxman OBE, Victims’ Commissioner for England and Wales.

Thank you to Claire Throssel for her campaigning against the presumption in memory of her two sons, Jack and Paul.

Congratulations to all the other wonderful organisations nominated for this award.
